Ring-billed Gull

One another one of our visits to Peace Valley, this Ring-billed Gull was circling the southwest section of Galena Lake. It was making a wide circle which brought it very close to us, sometimes almost overhead. I was able to photograph it during one such close encounter.

A Ring-billed Gull @ Peace Valley | D7200, Nikkor 200-500mm | 1/640, f/5.6 @ ISO 1000

I like the image a lot – it’s got a lot going for it. It has good detail, you can see its eyes, it’s correcty exposed and it captures the beautifully backlit feathers of the gull. It loses some marks for the slightly clipped wingtips.
