Spectacular raptor pics are a big reason I got inspired into bird photography. Ever since I got my big lens, I’ve been looking out for hawks, eagles, ospreys. So, on this great sunny day when I spotted this beautiful American Kestrel sitting at the top of a spindly tree, my heart skipped a few beats. Excitedly I rattled off a bunch of shots as soon as possible – getting a few sharp pics before it flew off.
Although I’m pleased that I didn’t completely botch this photo up in my excitement, it’s quite a boring shot. Had I been patient and locked on to the kestrel longer, I might’ve gotten a good shot of it taking off. Also, I probably was too far away, since the photo isn’t quite as detailed as I’d like.
