This Mourning Dove was photographed on the same sunny morning as the last few shots. Toward the end of our walk, I was very excited with my catch of the morning thus far – several new birds, several sharp exposures. That was when my wife and me heard a frequent hoot. Our ears perked up at the prospect of seeing and photographing an owl. We spent the next half hour or so intensely listening for the hoots and slowly triangulating toward our ‘owl’. When we finally got there we realized that our hooting owl was actually a cooing dove.
Its a well exposed and sharp photo, but fairly uninteresting. Nevertheless, I like the photo for the memory of our ‘owl’.
